Shea founded Knotty Goat Soapery (formerly Gentle Meadow Goat Farm) in 2009. They have built their compassionate goat farm to include a small herd of dairy goats. They refer to our goats as our "herd of rescues and rejects." The goats who were not born there were mostly either rescued or didn't fit in at their prior home. They keep our herd small so that each goat can get the care and attention it needs.
Initially, the goats were a therapeutic tool for Shea, who lives with post-traumatic stress disorder. Shea enjoys the balance of artistry and chemistry that is involved in soap-making and has built our business from scratch with love.
